Well done to all those children who have been busy reading at home this term – I hope you enjoy your new reading books!
Congratulations to 1LG for your excellent home reading.
The children have spent the day reading, enjoying, and sharing stories all in the comfort of their pyjamas, to raise vital funds to help every child get a bedtime story. This supports Rights of a Child Article 26,the right to help if you are in need.
Congratulations to 1KM for your excellent home reading.
What is the structure of a plant? We used magnifying glasses to observe plant’s closely.
Children enjoyed having a lively discussion about the parts of a plant. Using a magnifying glass, Year 1 were able to identify the four main parts of a flowering plant – flower, stem, leaf and roots.
This week, Year 1 have been learning that a half is a whole split into two equal parts. Children loved exploring which 2D shapes can be folded into equal halves and enjoyed working in groups to match halves of shapes to make a whole shape! On the way to discovering a whole is made of two equal parts, children drew upon their previous knowledge of 2D shapes to describe and name the new shapes they made!
Our new history topic is Cadbury World. We used photographs to find out about George Cadbury’s community.
Our new topic is all about plants so we went outside and observed the plants in our school environment. What did you see?
